Creating an Inspired Culture is one of our strategic pillars at Wood, and our global graduate programme is one of the many ways in which we are developing and empowering our people.

Over the past two years, Wood’s global graduate programme, led by our global early careers team, has hosted four cohorts, totalling 1,226 graduates from across 29 countries. In the past year alone, the global early careers team has held 26 online workshops, visited 13 locations and conducted 70 face-to-face workshops, all with the aim to support graduates with their transition from campus to corporate life and equip participants with the business-critical skills required to support their career advancement. In 2024, Wood’s global early careers team received the cHeRries award for learning and development of the year for the global programme and was nominated for Australia’s Top 100 Graduate Employer and Top 10 Engineering Employer awards, as recognised by the Australian Financial Review and GradConnection. These recognitions demonstrate the team’s strong commitment to an innovative and cohesive global graduate programme focused on value-add behaviours, driving business improvement, promoting curiosity and developing business acumen, self-learning and cultural understanding.

Ken Gilmartin, CEO of Wood, said: “We all started out somewhere and I believe the experience we create for our graduates is the difference between giving them a job and giving them a career path. We are a company that develops some of the industry’s top talent in engineering and technical innovation and our early careers employees are critical to our growth. These are the minds that shape industry outcomes and we pride ourselves on investing in them and empowering every individual to reach their full potential. That is the vision of our global graduate programme.”

Wood’s global early careers team has partnered with the talent acquisition team to attract and build the future pipeline and has purposefully integrated the global graduate programme with our Developing Professionals Network, which is Wood’s global network for all early career professionals to connect, learn and grow at a global and local level.

Through these initiatives, participants gain a better understanding of Wood’s culture, capabilities and opportunities to support their professional and personal development. Most importantly, our approach to early careers development ensures new employees build a strong network of colleagues and leaders across the world.

Our employee-led networks are a place for our remarkable employees to connect, learn, share views, tell us what we’re doing well and recommend improvements to make Wood an even better place to work. We are dedicated to fostering a culture that values curiosity and transparency, encourages exploration and embraces the continuous pursuit of new skills and insights.

By making Wood a great place to work, we make Wood a great company. The rich diversity of experience, expertise, backgrounds and beliefs we bring together globally differentiates our business, powers our progress and enables our success.
