Wood as an Official Partner of the UK Pavilion, is delighted to support Expo 2020 Dubai.
The event, which takes place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East and will be the largest ever staged in the Arab World.
The programme at Expo aims to inspire collective and meaningful action to address the world’s most critical challenges by providing a platform to foster creativity, innovation and collaboration.
Andrew Stewart, Executive President of Strategy & Development at Wood said the themes of the event are synonymous with the company’s energy transition strategy and sustainability goals. He said: “Expo 2020 has designed a progressive programme, which looks to the future, and explores how we can unite and take personal and collective responsibility to improve quality of life for generations to come.
“At Wood, we recognise the unstoppable momentum towards a net-zero future, and we see it as our role to apply our global expertise and the talent of our workforce to engineer practical solutions to these unprecedented challenges.
“The themes and discussions throughout Expo 2020 and the UK’s Pavilion and programme offer an ideal platform to share practical and technical solutions. Support for this event also further signals our commitment to the UAE.”
Mike Collins, Executive President of Projects at Wood, said: “Wood has been delighted to deliver significant projects for key developments in the UAE’s energy sector. Recent success has included the provision of Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for ADNOC’s flagship Upper Zakum and Umm Lulu developments, which combined created more than 450 jobs in Abu Dhabi. We are currently executing the Pre Front-End Engineering and Design (Pre-FEED) for a blue ammonia project and six additional TA’ZIZ chemicals projects, also for ADNOC, which will be developed at the new industrial ecosystem and chemicals hub in Ruwais. Wood is committed to growing its business in the UAE for the long-term and is well positioned to support the nation’s ambitious and world leading sustainability goals.”
Simon Penney, HM Trade Commissioner for the Middle East said: “It is great to see UK companies like Wood having such success in the UAE. We are pleased that as an Official Partner of the UK Pavilion, we will work together to showcase how the UK is innovating for a shared future across a variety of industries, including energy and engineering to create new solutions to global challenges being discussed at Expo 2020 Dubai.”
