The Skillspool team manages our employees training and competence across the service lines. We work in conjunction with Advanced Industrial Solutions (AIS), who manage and deliver our training activities.
Requesting Training
To request training, you can use AIS online system click here for AIS System Guide (link to AIS System Guide)
Alternatively, you can make a course booking by contacting AIS on woodgroup@aisgroup.co.uk 01224 851500 option 4 then option 1
Nominated or Training out with your Training Matrix will need to be requested and approved by your supervisor or contact manager via a training form.

E-Learning courses must be completed within 30 days of enrolment. Where enrolments are not completed within this timeframe and result in a re-enrolment, this will lead to you being held liable for the cost incurred and/or disciplinary action unless there are valid or mitigating circumstances.
Requesting Accommodation
Requests for accommodation can be made at the same time as training course requests via the AIS online system or via phone or email. Please ensure that your request clearly states the check in date, duration and preferred hotel (if known).
If you have already received Joining Instructions and need to request accommodation, please email your request to woodgroup@aisgroup.co.uk
Accommodation will be confirmed by AIS via email with a copy of your booking and reference number
Please make sure you have received accommodation confirmation in advance of travelling. If accommodation needs to be requested out of hours, it has an impact on our on-call team.
Training Joining Instructions
AIS facilitated courses - the AIS online system will automatically issue Joining Instructions as soon as the course is booked.
Third party providers facilitated courses - there are occasions where joining instructions are issued close to the start date. AIS will send an email confirming training booking, provider, location, date and times and stating that the Joining Instructions will follow as soon as they receive them.
Cancelling Training
In the event you cannot attend training at short notice, please do the following:
Contact the Skillspool focal point on (link to contacts below) if it is within the hours of 8.30am – 5.00pm. If it is out with these hours, contact the out of hours contact number (01224 851000).
Provide details of the reason you are unable to attend training.
Let the person know if you have accommodation arranged so that this can also be cancelled.
If the training is a mandatory requirement for your role, please provide a suitable date that training can be rescheduled to, as this may help to reduce any course cancellation costs.
If the training was a nominated course, we may not ask for a date to reschedule training as this will be dependent on timeframe of work scopes, training availability and discretion of the contract that training is required for.
Details of the non-attendance will be recorded and kept on your employee file.
AIS System
All employees are assigned a training matrix applicable to their role. Your training matrix can be found in the AIS online system https://woodgroup.aisgroup.co.uk/employee/login.
The Training Management System will allow you to make course bookings at the touch of a button. As well as booking your course, the system automatically stores all your certificates online, manages certificate renewals and allows you to plan and manage all your training needs.
