Fostering talent for the energy transition
Polymer plastic production is growing. Plastics production reached 400 million metric tonnes in 2022 and is on an upwards trajectory, typically increasing 1-3% on previous years1. Polymers and plastics are used in almost everything and are essential across industries.
Global plastic waste is set to almost triple by 20602 and currently only 9% of plastic waste is currently recycled, with the majority going to incineration, landfills or dumps3. Chemical plastic recycling, on an industrial scale, can help combat plastic waste, single-use plastics and environmental damage caused by plastic.
