Wood’s Indigenous Bursary supports post-secondary students in Canada
We create more innovative, creative and inclusive teams when we embrace and celebrate the value each person brings to Wood. We seek to deliver a fair transition to a low carbon future that leaves nobody behind.
Recognising the rich diversity of experience, expertise, backgrounds and beliefs brought to our business through our people, we are focused on making Wood a great place to work. A place where all our people feel they belong, are empowered and supported to succeed.

Our employees are fundamental to the delivery of Wood’s services and therefore to the long-term success of our business. Creating a sustainable work environment embodies a culture where we create a sense of community, where everyone has a place and part to play in our shared success.
In an ever-challenging business environment, our ability to attract, develop and retain employees is vital to ensuring our business maintains the future skills needed to lead the energy transition. Ensuring we remain an employer of choice, relies upon our ability to create a diverse, equitable and inclusive approach to how we do business.

Making Diversity, equity and inclusion part of our business strategy at Wood, above being the right thing to do, simply makes good business sense.
So much of our success depends on feeling part of a team that we can rely on. We each have our own rich heritage. What unites us is the way we interact with one another, and that’s what our vision, values and behaviours support. Supported by our code of conduct, our values set the tone, help create our culture, give us one common set of principles and help create the culture of our organisation.
Our Inclusion and Diversity policy sets out how Wood aims to ensure we create a great working environment though diversity, equity and inclusion in our business. Applicable to all Wood personnel and those seeking to work for us, the policy provides minimum standards, expectations, key methods and governance. The Inclusion and Diversity policy is supported by various policies documents on topics such as human rights, equal opportunities, harassment, reward, as well as our code of conduct and supplier code of conduct.
All policies are available from our Policies & documents page.
In 2021, Wood announced two sustainability goals focused on diversity, equity and inclusion; to educate and inspire 100% of Wood employees to be inclusive every day by 2021, and to improve gender balance with 40% female representation in senior leadership roles by 2030.

Our approach to diversity, equity and inclusion is supported by driving personal ownership in our organisation and a focus on educating ourselves and each other, empathising with our colleagues and engaging in activities and conversations that relate to Inclusion, diversity and equality. Whilst embracing diversity and creating an inclusive working environment is implicit in our values and behaviours, we recognise that we are still on a journey to truly achieving this.
Everyone has a part to play and a shared responsibility to achieve our vision of a better tomorrow. Every decision we make, from the smallest choice to the largest strategic action, supports our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Responsible for Wood’s evolving culture, our Board maintains a quarterly focus on diversity, equity and inclusion matters, how this impacts the culture of our organisation, and to ensure a diverse pipeline of talent is identified for succession and appointment into positions of leadership. ‘Myriad’ (my role in inclusion and diversity) seeks to drive personal ownership for our employees setting out the impact an individual can make. Focused on three pillars – educate, empathise, and engage - Myriad provides resources, tools, and opportunities to drive inclusion and diversity throughout Wood.
Our strategy on diversity, equity and inclusion uses five ‘levers’ to further establish a culture where employees are highly engaged and feel supported by the company and their line manager:
Leadership & Allies
We will create leadership champions across Wood to drive our diversity, equity and inclusion activities and enable allies at all levels of our organisation to champion those in underrepresented groups.
Culture & Inclusion
We will foster a work environment and culture where inclusion is delivered structurally and behaviourally, through policies, training and communication plans.
Employee Lifecycle
We will attract and retain key talent from the full spectrum of the global talent pool, unlocking diverse talent and matching people to best opportunities for their growth within Wood, aligned to representation goals.
Employee Networks
We will empower an employee network structure which facilitates employee voices and feedback loops. We will continuously evolve our approach based on internal and external input.
Measurement and Evaluation
Assessing our progress, we will monitor and measure our activities, assessing key demographic data, setting goals to improve representation in key areas and measuring engagement outcomes.
